Photo gifts have always been a favourite for me. I even have collage prints of family outings, memorable moments etc. When you have it all on your phone, there is a high chance of missing the pics when you phone is damaged, lost etc. When you have it in a booklet format it is always a memory to quickly ruffle through.
I still cherish the old albums. That was one time when you had to click a pick and wait till you have to finish the roll. I remember it to be roughly 36 in a roll. Then when the roll has been fully clicked, had to take it to a studio and wait for 2-3 days to get the prints. Some pics would have been simply wasted. If I am right, a roll cost somewhere around 100-150 and the printing was 200-250 for a roll. Then with time, several advanced prints like on matte sheets etc appeared. But I don't remember to have gone for it. It was always glossy. When the prints came, my family would sit around it at the dinner table. That was one fun analyzing the pics. Then the pics are taken to school and shown to friends.
And look at the current costs. That's absolutely cheap
None of that remains now. You click a pic, you view it then and there and if it's bad, there goes the delete button. Else the pic is posted on some social media websites and poured with comments and likes. And then forgotten for even, until FB shows it up on memories. If you haven't posted it up on social media, it gets dumped into the trillions of photos already taken and forgotten.
I have 2 photo album books. One is a collection of pictures from kids 1st Cyclathon. A memorable moment to cherish when by boys took to cycling on the road on their own. The other is of a family visit to Lulu, Cochin. That was a great trip and always memorable. I have a few mugs with prints, and I have gifted some printed mugs too.
So what can you do? Pull up all the picks of Valentines Day for years and arrange them into a booklet. Your loved one is gonna hug u close for all the emotion you have put into it. Or gift your mom all those moments you have captured with her. Your baby's first-year pics, or all pics in chronological order.
